Griesson - de Beukelaer tasks TDS with SAP hosting
August 29,2006
Neckarsulm, Germany, August 29, 2006· Griesson - de Beukelaer, a leading manufacturer of bakery products, has tasked TDS with hosting its entire SAP environment – in the mid-term, the service provider will assume responsibility for all aspects of SAP system operation. In the future, Griesson’s 250 employees will access the SAP system at TDS’ data center from a variety of sites across Germany. The extensive new landscape includes mySAP ERM with the FI, CO, MM, PP-PI, SD, and HR modules, as well as SAP SCM, and marks the company’s entry into the SAP world: Griesson previously deployed a variety of standard software products, in conjunction with in-house programming. With revenues of €397 million and 1,800 employees, Griesson is one of Germany’s top manufacturers of sweet and savory snacks. Prinzen Rolle cookies and Soft Cake are among some of its most famous products.
Greater business success through optimized processes
By opting for the implementation of a high-availability SAP solution, Griesson - de Beukelaer has chosen a future-proof IT platform to streamline its operational processes – ultimately securing and enhancing the long-term success of the company. In-house operation was a time-consuming and costly option: partly because the company would have needed to appoint additional staff with specialist SAP knowledge. As a result, Griesson - de Beukelaer chose a path taken by many SAP newcomers, and outsourced its entire environment. Now, experienced SAP experts at TDS’ data center manage and maintain the system – ensuring extremely high reliability. The new SAP system went live without a hitch on July 1, 2006.
For Griesson - de Beu¬kelaer, high availability was a decisive factor when choosing the solution – and the Service Level Agreements with TDS place particular emphasis on this point. TDS is able to deliver the uptime required thanks to a number of measures – including storage-system mirroring, server clustering, and a state-of-the-art data center with redundant components, e.g. for power supply and cooling units.
Wanted: a facility based in Germany
"Despite all the gloom-and-doom coverage in the media about the high cost of doing business in Germany, TDS presented a persuasive, competitively-priced bid, and we were impressed by their expertise,” says Gerd Schäfer, head of IT at Griesson - de Beuke¬laer. "TDS was able to fulfill all our requirements and deliver a solution tailored exactly to our needs. Furthermore, both TDS and Griesson - de Beuke¬laer are mid-sized enterprises – so we speak a common language. The fact that TDS’ application-hosting facility is based in Germany was also an important factor - it makes a lot of things simpler, quicker and more efficient.”
