Cosmetics manufacturer deploys TDS’ industry-specific SAP solution

Neckarsulm, Germany, 10 November 2009. Marbert has been developing and manufacturing beauty and skincare products for over 70 years. Because industry requirements are constantly evolving, the company’s software had to be frequently updated. Maintaining and modernizing its proprietary ERP system became increasingly difficult. As a result, the Düsseldorf-based organization decided to deploy a standard, industry-specific solution ― and chose myTDS.Cosmetics from TDS, a one-stop provider of IT outsourcing, IT consulting, HR services, and of industry-specific SAP solutions. myTDS.Cosmetics is an SAP Business All-In-One offering, based on SAP ERP. It was developed by TDS with cosmetics companies’ specific needs in mind. Because it is pre-configured, it is easy to customize and can be implemented within a short timeframe. Thanks to myTDS.Cosmetics, Marbert now has effective processes with end-to-end IT support, a high degree of visibility ― and it can quickly respond to new developments.
Comprehensive processes support
Marbert now has software support of the entire process chain, from checking the quality of received goods, to manufacturing, to batch tracking and tracing. The cosmetics manufacturer leverages the industry-specific solution to check incoming raw materials and ingredients, and to perform in-process controls and final inspections. The solution models the entire production process, from the manufacturing of batches to filling product into drums. What’s more, a variety of industry-relevant add-ons are available, such as functionality for formulating cosmetics or creating INCI (International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients) declarations. These add-ons dovetail seamlessly with myTDS.Cosmetics.
Data migration carried out by Marbert
TDS experts were responsible for planning and project management. The SAP specialists integrated the solution with external systems, e.g. customer order systems, using EDI interfaces. They were also on hand during the entire go-live process, providing valuable support for Marbert’s IT staff. The cosmetics manufacturer was able to carry out some steps independently, such as data migration – even though it had no prior experience with SAP. This was assisted by the solution’s excellent documentation.
IT expertise and industry insight
Business-critical applications such as recipe management, production control and accounting are now provided on a future-proof platform – a major benefit for the approximately 40 Marbert employees who use this solution. What’s more, data-entry errors have been minimized by re-designed forms.
Marbert, a mid-sized enterprise with a small IT department, wanted its move to SAP to be as smooth as possible. It therefore needed a partner that has the necessary SAP expertise and an in-depth understanding of the cosmetics sector’s needs. TDS’ solution supports all relevant processes right out of the box ― minimizing time and costs associated with migration. The cosmetics manufacturer was often able to use the standard processes modelled within myTDS.Cosmetics. Go-live was straightforward due to excellent training materials, comprehensive solution documentation, and effective training provided by TDS for Marbert’s staff.
